More than 220 horses have been nominated to the $850,000 Claiming Crown to be run December 1 at Gulfstream Park. Comparisons to previous years are difficult because of the new nomination process this year, but the quantity and quality of nominations bodes well for the event set to be run on opening day at the Florida track. Among the nominees are numerous stakes winners, including two Grade 1 winners and a horse coming out of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
The next deadline for the Claiming Crown is Wednesday, November 28. That’s the date for entries and supplemental nominations.
