Trainer's Exam Prep Class Set for November 19-21 in Lexington

Dr. C. Reid McLellan will be teaching a Trainer's Exam Prep Class in Lexington, Kentucky from November 19 through 21. Tuition is $350 and includes the National Trainer's Exam study guide, a narrated PowerPoint CD, and DvD’s from ROAP and the Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit.

CLASS INFORMATION: Friday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 AM - 5:00 p.m. with breaks and a one hour working lunch. Sunday 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. or later if necessary (Class will be done by 2:00 p.m. for those making flight arrangements on Sunday afternoon). Students will be sent home with a practice exam. Class location will be sent to all that register. Tentative location is the Secretariat Center at the Kentucky Horse Park.

TUITION: $350.00. Includes morning coffee and doughnuts, National Trainers' Exam Study Guide notebook; CD with PowerPoint study guides including "Weights, Step by Step; DVD of hoof care; DVD of Racing Official Accreditation Program duties of racing officials; and practice supplies that will be yours to take home. National HBPA scholarships may be available for graduates of Groom Elite 101 and 201.

Class size will be limited to 15 so register early.

Morning routine, track rules, track layout & distance

Digestive and Respiratory systems
Coggins and health paper rules
Racing tack identification and use

Saturday afternoon
People to know, duties of racing officials, "the 3 lists"
Entry procedures, condition book, coupled entries
Preference date system, overnights, extras
Entering horses with correct weight & exercises
Bandaging practice lagniappe

Claiming and claiming rules
Lasix and other medication rules
Review entering horses with correct weight
Review
Hand out practice test
Questions and Answers
